Chinese Paper on Inter-Korean Relations
Beijing, June 5 (KCNA) -- The chief of the Center for Korean Peninsula Studies of the Asia-Pacific Institute under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that the relations between the north and the south of Korea are national ties, according to the Chinese People's Daily on June 2.

One may say north Korea has generally maintained its consistency in its policy towards the inter-Korean relations. The north and the south differ in their social systems. South Korea changed its policy whenever regime change took place. But north Korea has maintained one principle.

There has been no success to speak of in the inter-Korean relations over the past few years since Lee Myung Bak came to power.

The paper on June 1 reported as follows:

North Korea attempted to improve the inter-Korean relations by taking measures on its own initiative at the outset of the year. It proposed south Korea to have a series of dialogue including talks between authorities, Red Cross talks and military talks.

South Korea, however, has persistently slandered north Korea and put military pressure on it.

North Korea has gradually begun taking a tough attitude and on May 30 declared an important decision including the severance of contact with the south Korean "government".
