Construction of Jeju Naval Base Opposed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations of women of all social standings held a rally before the site for the project for the Jeju Naval Base on June 1 and issued a declaration opposing the construction project of the puppet military authorities.

Protests against their project are being staged across south Korea, the declaration said.

Jeju Island does not belong to some politicians and the military authorities but to Jeju islanders and they want to see a peaceful and safe society where the future of children is guaranteed, it noted.

It declared that the women would make positive efforts to put an end to the project in positive solidarity with the actions of the Jeju islanders and other people from all walks of life.
