Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Kosan Fruit Farm
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Kosan Fruit Farm.

The farm is a large fruit producer now under construction as required by the new century.

After being briefed on the farm before a huge map showing its panoramic view, he went round various places of the farm for hours to acquaint himself in detail with the construction.

The builders created a modern orchard covering hundreds of hectares in a short span of time under difficult conditions, radically changing the appearance of the farm, he said, highly praising their feats.

Then he went round the newly built pumping station for waterdrop irrigation and the modern tile factory on the farm.

After learning about the waterdrop irrigation, he highly praised the builders and employees of the farm for introducing a modern irrigation system and thus providing a scientific and technological guarantee for boosting the fruit production while getting fruit trees grow safely.

After going round the factory capable of mass-producing varieties of tiles including plain roof tiles, leaning tiles, triangular tiles and ridge tiles and supporters for fruit trees, he was greatly pleased that the farm has built a good building-material base suited to its specific conditions.

He advanced important tasks before the farm.

In order to bring about a leaping advance in the fruit farming as required by the developing reality the farm should continue energetically pushing forward the project for expanding its capacity and put the fruit production on a higher scientific, modern and intensive basis, he said.

The production of good quality fruits can be boosted only when the fertility of land is increased, he said, stressing the need for the farm to build pig farms with a big capacity and apply more organic composite fertilizers to fruit fields.

He underscored the need for the farm to manure and tend fruit trees in a scientific and technological way and, at the same time, positively introduce advanced technology.

He called upon the farm to make an effective use of the existing machines and, at the same time, use more efficient farm machines for cultivating orchards.

In order to provide the people with fruits produced at the farm without loss of even a single fruit, it is necessary to pick up apples in good time, pay deep attention to preserving fruits and build new bases for producing fruit juice and slices of dried fruits.

He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC.
