Police Crackdown on Students Slammed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea issued a statement on May 30 in protest against the puppet police's merciless suppression of students demanding the settlement of the registration fee issue.

The statement charged that the police walked away at least 70 university students struggling for the settlement of the issues of registration fee and youth unemployment in Seoul on May 29.

The policy set forth by the "Grand National Party" so far over the registration fee issue is just a deceptive one aimed to shift the blame on to students and their parents, it said.

To turn out in the action to settle the issue is reasonable, it said, demanding that the authorities set free all those arrested and immediately implement the commitments to halve the registration fee.

A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party in a commentary on the same day strongly denounced the authorities for the violence on students.

The GNP is now playing a deceptive farce while talking about the settlement of the registration fee issue and the like, the commentary said, expressing the anger at the indiscriminate suppression of the students demanding the settlement of the registration fee issue.
