Apology from US Forces for Burial of Toxic Defoliant Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- Members of the Solidarity for Progress and other civic and public organizations in south Korea held a rally outside Waegwan Railway Station in Chilgok County, North Kyongsang Province on May 29 in protest against the U.S. forces' crimes.

At the rally speakers referred to the polluted environment by the U.S. forces in their base in Waegwan. The inhabitants living around the base are suffering big damage without receiving any compensation and apology, they deplored.

They demanded a full-scale investigation into all the U.S. military bases and a total revision of the unequal south Korea-U.S. SOFA.

Particularly, the U.S. president should apologize for the U.S. forces' crimes by himself, they said, warning that an unpredictable anti-American storm will occur in case the U.S. refuses to probe the truth about the burial of defoliant and take measures against such deed.

Meanwhile, the south Korean newspaper Hangyore on May 30 carried an editorial calling for the revision of the SOFA over the disclosure of the defoliant burial case.
