June 1 International Children's Day Marked
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- A friendly meeting of children and women in Pyongyang and foreign children and women took place at the Taesongsan Pleasure Ground on Wednesday, the International Children's Day.

Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Education Commission, Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and children and women in the city.

Present there on invitation were children and women of foreign diplomatic missions and missions of international organizations here, foreign guests and overseas compatriots staying in the homeland.

Ro Song Sil, chairwoman of the C.C., the Democratic Women's Union of Korea, made a congratulatory speech at the meeting.

She warmly congratulated all the children across the country who are stoutly growing to be masters of Songun Korea under the care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and children of different countries present.

After the rhythmic exercise of kindergarteners was over, the children were divided into two groups and had sports and amusement games.

Korean and foreign children played games including jumping over flower-strewn lines, snatching balls, playing at soldiers, picking up toys and tug of war.

An art performance was given by children at the meeting.

Korean children presented such numbers as boy solo and pangchang "Korean Child" and amusement dance "Pleasant Counting", representing their happy appearance.

Foreign children sang Korean songs including chorus "Birthplace in Mt. Paektu" and "We Are the Happiest in the World".

At the end of the games, the participants spent a pleasant time, dancing together and using amusement facilities.
