Reactionaries' Moves to Suppress National Education of Koreans in Japan Assailed
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, the ultra-right conservative organization of Japan called "Rescue Association-Fukuoka" termed subsidies provided by the government of Fukuoka Prefecture to Korean schools in Japan as "illegal" and filed a suit with the local court in Fukuoka against this.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:

The Japanese reactionaries' moves to suppress the national education at the Korean schools in Japan under the pretext that it is "politically motivated education" are nothing but despicable and heinous criminal actions to infringe upon the national identity and the rights of the Koreans in Japan to national education.

Japan has the moral and legal responsibility and obligation to protect the democratic national rights of the Koreans in Japan and honestly help the Korean schools in Japan in their national education, the commentary notes, and goes on:

This notwithstanding, the Japanese ultra-right conservative forces are working hard to bar the authorities from paying subsidies by attaching groundless label "politically motivated education" to the national education at the Korean schools in Japan. This is a manifestation of the extreme bitterness towards the DPRK and the national chauvinism.

The above-said moves are nothing but a poor trick to deprive the Koreans in Japan of the right to national education and destroy the Korean educational institutions in Japan by all means.

The moves to suppress the national education at the Korean schools in Japan, educational institutions under the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, are also a blatant challenge to it and an undisguised hostile act against the DPRK.

The Japanese authorities should view this issue with cool heads, serve warnings against the ultra-right conservative forces' anti-DPRK hostile acts and respect and protect the democratic national rights of the Koreans in Japan in the light of international law and on a humanitarian principle and help the Korean schools in Japan in their national education.

The DPRK will closely follow how the Japanese authorities will react to the reckless acts of the above-said elements.
