Briefing on DPRK's MDGs Held
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- A briefing on the 2010 report on what the DPRK has attained in the MDGs (millennium development goals) was held at the People's Palace of Culture Tuesday.

The briefing was attended by officials of DPRK ministries and national institutions and officials of the Pyongyang missions of the UNDP and other international organizations.

A speech was delivered by Pak Yong Suk, vice-director of the Central Statistic Bureau. She recalled that some ten years ago, the UN millennium submit adopted a declaration calling for ensuring peace, security and development of the world and reducing poverty by half in the world till 2015 and set MDGs.

She said the DPRK government properly set MDGs and worked out a program for their attainment in conformity with the actual conditions of the country and is now directing a great effort to implementing it.

"The DPRK will as ever actively join the international community in the effort for achieving the goals," she added.

Bijaya Rajbhandari, chief of the Pyongyang Mission of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), also made a speech.

Introduced at the briefing were the main contents of the first report on what the DPRK has attained in the MDGs.
