Speech of Kim Jong Il at Banquet
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Following is the full text of a speech delivered by general secretary Kim Jong Il at the banquet:

Esteemed Comrade General Secretary Hu Jintao,

Dear Chinese comrades,

I am very pleased to visit China again at the invitation of you, respected Comrade General Secretary, and have meaningful meetings with you and other Chinese friends.

I, first of all, would like to express deep thanks to you for having invited us to this grand banquet, though very busy with important internal and external political affairs, and made a friendly speech just before.

My thanks also go to the collective leadership of the Communist Party of China and other Chinese comrades for warmly welcoming us with comradely and friendly feelings during our tour from Heilongjiang Province, our first leg, to Beijing.

Visiting China again after nine months amid warm welcome, we have newly felt friendly feelings of the Chinese people, our close neighbor sharing a mountain and rivers with us.

We toured northeast China where traditional DPRK-China friendship struck root, Jiangxi Province that President Kim Il Sung went round during his last China visit and other vast areas of China. During the days we have been much moved by great changes and progress made in the areas under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with you as general secretary.

We are sincerely rejoiced at the achievements of the Chinese people as at our own.

This year is very significant for the Chinese people as they will greet the 90th anniversary of the CPC and started to carry on the 12th five-year plan for economic and social development.

We sincerely hope that the fraternal Chinese people will significantly celebrate the CPC anniversary and make greater achievements in the effort for adhering to the scientific outlook on development, defending the social stability and building a harmoniously developed socialist society under the leadership of the CPC headed by you.

The Chinese party and government are greatly contributing to rejecting high-handedness and dominationism and ensuring world peace and stability by pursuing a foreign policy sovereign and independent, under the banner of peace, development and cooperation.

All their signal successes go to clearly prove the scientific nature and invincibility of socialism.

We are grateful to the Chinese party and government for valuing the DPRK-China relations, striving hard to develop them and always supporting the Korean people in their effort for socialist construction and the country's reunification.

We are also satisfied with a good strategic understanding between our two parties and two countries and with the proper implementation of agreements reached between us and the collective leadership of CPC in the political, economic, cultural and all other fields.

The traditional DPRK-China friendship, which has invariably displayed its great vitality even in the complicated international situation, will be further consolidated and developed in the future, powerfully propelling the just struggle of our two peoples for the common cause -- socialist construction and national reunification.

I am very happy that our China visit serves as a good occasion in putting spurs to the development of the traditional friendship between the two countries, which struck root deep in the minds of the two peoples, overcoming all trials through history.

Our party and government will as ever make every possible effort to steadily develop the bilateral friendship, a precious heritage and common treasure provided by revolutionaries of the elder generations of the two countries.

The DPRK-China friendship will be evergreen like forests of Mt, Paektu and will be continued through generations like the flow of the River Amnok.
