Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Newspapers of Uruguay and Pakistan dedicated articles to the 65th anniversary of the ground-breaking ceremony of the Pothong River improvement project in which President Kim Il Sung spaded up the earth himself.

The La Juventud of Uruguay on May 20 carried the beaming image of Kim Il Sung and an article titled "Korea, First Torch of Nature Remaking, 65th anniversary of the Pothong River Improvement Project".

It noted that after the liberation the President initiated the project and participated in the ground-breaking ceremony to spade the earth personally on May 21, 1946.

Under his brilliant leadership the great project was successfully completed in a short span of 55 days, turning the Pothong River into the one of happiness, the article noted.

The article said that the work to build the country on the long-term plan has been vigorously underway everywhere in the DPRK, stressing that the country has gained greater successes in the nature-harnessing project in the course of materializing general secretary Kim Jong Il's plan for the building of a great prosperous and powerful nation.

The Baluchistan Times of Pakistan on May 18 said that May 21 this year is the 65th anniversary of Kim Il Sung's spading up the earth at the ceremony for starting the Pothong River improvement project and carried an article to introduce it.
