Mountain County Undergoes Radical Change
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Hochon County in South Hamgyong Province, the DPRK has taken on a new look.

Conspicuous in the central part of the township are a large mosaic of President Kim Il Sung with his face beaming with smile and a tower to his immortality.

The house of culture, health complex, hospital and library were reconstructed on a modern basis. The township also has shops, restaurants, nurseries, kindergartens and schools.

In recent years, the county newly built hundreds of dwelling houses, paved roads and covered footways with colorful flagstones.

Public buildings, industrial establishments and residential quarters have fences topped with Korean tiles.

The township has been supplied with purified water through a nature-driven waterway.

Dwelling houses use methane gas for cooking and heating.

Many trees of good species have been planted in mountains, new bridges built and roads reconstructed on an expansion basis.

Tiered power stations were constructed on Hwanggok stream to supply local factories and houses with electricity.

Soft drinks are made with wild fruits available in the mountain county.

Flocks of goats and sheep cover hills and valleys.
