Japan instituted Hinomaru which they fluttered when fighting overseas wars of aggression in the past as national flag and Kimigayo as national anthem in 1999 defying the unanimous voices of the international community against the revival of militarism.

In the subsequent period, the Japanese authorities pressed the education organs to teach it to the students. At the same time, they taught students distorted history justifying Japan's history of aggression in the last century.
