It was confirmed on May 21 that the U.S. Department of Energy made two tests of new form aimed at surveying the performance of a nuclear weapon by use of plutonium last year and this year, the Jiji Press said.

Such nuclear test of the U.S. might touch off protest among anti-nuke organizations as "it is likely to lead to the development of new type nuclear weapons", the press added.
