S. Korea: Protesters against Jeju Naval Base Project Arrested
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet police on May 19 walked away members of civic organizations including Ko Kwon Il, chairman of the Inhabitants Measure Committee against the Building of Jeju Naval Base, and inhabitants, eight in all.

The police arrested on the charge of "interference in execution of duty" those protestors who were staging a sit-in strike against the construction of the naval base in Kangjong village, Sogwipho City, Jeju Island.

The chief of the Sogwipho Police Station even threatened that they would walk away all of the inhabitants in the future.

That day the Inhabitants Measure Committee called a press conference in denunciation of the police's suppression, at which it strongly demanded an immediate halt to the construction of the base and release of those arrested.
