Russia's Stand on MD in Europe Clarified

Moscow, May 21 (KCNA) -- Nikolai Makarov, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in a seminar on May 20 clarified the stand of his country on the missile defense system the U.S. seeks to deploy in Europe.

Russia should participate in all stages of the U.S. MD in Europe, he said, stressing that what is important is to remove the threat to his country.

As long as the U.S. denies Russia's proposals concerning the issue of the MD in Europe, the Russian government will accept it as part of the U.S. world MD, he declared.
