Fund-raising Campaign for Afflicted Compatriots Staged
Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- A fund-raising campaign is brisk in different parts of Japan to help the compatriots hard hit by a killer earthquake and ensuing tsunami in Japan.

All the officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and compatriots have conducted the fund-raising campaign involving its organizations and all compatriots, considering it as an important task of the 90-day campaign to give collective support and assistance to the organizations and compatriots in the afflicted areas.

The Chongryon organizations in different parts of Japan called upon compatriots to turn out in the campaign, showing videos dealing with the damage and distributing literature on it among them.

Kang Sang Hyon, chairman of the Central Standing Management Board of the Korean Youth Commercial Association in Japan, and other representatives visited the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon and handed to it the relief fund raised by the successive chairmen and members.

Pae Man Sok, chairman of the Miyagi Prefectural Commercial Association, donated a lot of money with the enthusiasm to take the lead in the work to eradicate the aftermath of the earthquake.

Korean football players also raised relief fund to help afflicted compatriots.

The Hokkaido Headquarters, the Nishi Kobe branch of the Hyogo Prefecture and the Adachi Branch of Tokyo Metropolis of Chongryon sent a lot of fund to the afflicted areas.

Meanwhile, compatriots of Mindan-lining organizations and unaffiliated organizations donated relief fund in response to the above-said campaign.
