State Theatrical Troupe
Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- The State Theatrical Troupe of the DPRK is celebrating its 65th anniversary on May 23.

Its predecessor, the National Art Troupe, was organized on the initiative of President Kim Il Sung a year after the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule.

Its first drama is "Thunder" based on the Pochonbo Battle conducted under the command of the President in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, the troupe encouraged the army and people with "Route of Charge" and other plays.

It created many plays about feats of the Korean people in the post-war rehabilitation and construction and in the socialist construction.

Afterwards, it entered a new stage of its development under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The troupe successfully recreated the masterpiece "The Shrine" with the introduction of music, songs and three-dimensional stage art and decorations.

On the basis of the achievement, other famous works "Blood at an International Conference", "A Letter from a Daughter", "Three Pretenders" and "Celebrations" were renewed and "Wish" and "Mother's Request" created.

A few years ago, it recreated the light comedy "Echo of Mountain" to enjoy a great popularity as a masterpiece representing literature and art in the Songun (military-first) era.
