Kwail County Combined Fruit Farm Underwent Change
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The Kwail County Combined Fruit Farm, South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK, is proud of its new appearance.

For the past decade the farm over-fulfilled its yearly fruit production plan by over 10 percent and laid a solid material and technological foundation, thus opening up a bright prospect for increasing production.

It gave priority to the researches into fruit varieties of high-yielding strains. It also curtailed the production period of short apple tree saplings by one year by applying a new grafting method.

The introduction of the advanced close planting method also made it possible for the farm to markedly increase the per hectare yield and thus raise the scientific level of fruit production.

It rezoned 25 miles field which helped lay a material foundation for realizing the mechanization of fruit culture at a higher level.

The farm manured every hectare with more than 100 tons of quality compost to increase the soil fertility and this helped systematically increase the fruit production.

It produced hundreds tons of various kinds of agricultural chemicals including highly-effective insecticide by its own efforts, thus stepping up the work to put the prediction of harmful insects and forecast on IT basis.

During these days the farm supplied early peaches and other seasonal fruits to Pyongyangites every year, contributing to improving the people's diet.
