Foundations Laid for Heavy Rail Production
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- Foundations have been laid in the DPRK to boost the production of heavy rails and augment their quality.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex has built small-size blast furnaces for rail steel production and improved the rail steel rolling method in a rational way.

It has almost finished the project for applying a high-temperature air combustion technology to the heating furnace.

Meanwhile, the Ferrous Metal Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences has made scientific and technological discoveries in the development of new ferroalloy to ensure the hardness and extension rate of heavy rails on a high level.

A research team of Kim Chaek University of Technology found out a rational composition of rail steel through scores of experiments.
