Chonju Temple in Yaksandongdae
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The Chonju Temple is one of the tourist attractions in the northwestern area of Korea.

The temple in Yaksandongdae of Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province, was built in 1684 and rebuilt in 1722.

It had several buildings but now only Pogwang Shrine, Chonju Pavilion and an accessory building still remain.

The temple was regarded as a point of military importance. Near the temple is a ruined arsenal.

The shrine, with a crane-shaped roof and double eaves, was colorfully painted.

The pavilion has a large loft in the middle, flanked by two other lofts connected with living rooms for nuns.
