The statement charged that the police and the Intelligence Service on the same day searched and arrested members of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration on charges of violation of the "National Security Law".

The present "government" is incriminating the legitimate activities of the reunification movement organization and committing wholesale suppression of it, it said, branding this as a treacherous anti-reunification deed of blocking the peaceful reunification, the task of the national history.

The authorities are now trying to suffocate democracy by defining as "enemy-benefiting" and cracking down on the organizations which have called for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and the abolition of the NSL and taken the lead in the reunification movement, the statement charged.

It urged the "government" to stop at once the anti-reunification act of blocking the reunification movement and totally denying the June 15 joint declaration and set free the arrested members immediately.
