Suppression of Reunification Movement Slammed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- Ten odd political parties and civic and public organizations of south Korea called a press conference outside the puppet Police Agency on May 4 to condemn the suppression of the reunification movement organizations.

They included the Democratic Labor Party, the Solidarity for Progress, the Catholic Human Rights Committee and the Youth Solidarity.

Speakers at the conference noted that the police and the Intelligence Service that day kicked up a racket of arrest and search against former and incumbent members of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in Seoul, Kwangju, Taejon and Jeju Island.

They strongly denounced the security forces for repressing the activities of youth and students for independence, democracy and reunification on charges of "enemy-benefiting deed".

This is retaliation for the ruling party's defeat in the April 27 by-election, they pointed out.

The present authorities have employed retaliatory repression whenever they are judged by the people, they said, adding that the fact clearly disclosed the true colors of the dictatorial forces maintaining their remaining days through suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces and the people.

They declared that they would fight against the suppression by the security authorities and surely punish the present "government" by the strength of the people.
