The U.S. agreed with the Romanian authorities to deploy U.S. missile interceptors in Romania. The Russian Foreign Ministry said this "practical step" by the U.S. to create a European segment of its global missile defense system was made regardless of Russian-U.S. dialogue on anti-missile issues.

Such plan may pose a danger to Russia's strategic nuclear deterrent, the ministry said, adding that Russia would closely watch the future developments.
