S. Korean Conservative Forces Urged to Halt Arms Build-up against Compatriots
Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- It is impossible to create an atmosphere for improving the north-south relations unless the moves for confrontation and a war against fellow countrymen are terminated in south Korea. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a bylined article. This is proved by the lapse of three years since the conservative forces came to power in south Korea, the article notes, and goes on:

Those forces have further intensified the above-said moves with each passing day to do harm to compatriots.

What frantic moves these forces have stepped up to bolster up the armed forces for invading the north find a vivid manifestation in the fact that the funds spent for arms purchase with the money collected from the people as taxes steadily swelled every year.

The bellicose nature of the ruling conservative forces was brought to light by the fact that they have staged madcap joint military exercises with outside forces almost every day since the outset of their office.

The number of the joint military exercises staged by the conservative authorities in collusion with outside forces over the last three years under diverse codenames steadily increased: 31 in 2008, 37 in 2009 and 50 in 2010.

From the beginning of their office they revived the "theory of principal enemy" and recklessly incited consciousness of confrontation with fellow countrymen throughout the society, letting loose such provocative remarks as "preemptive attack" on the north and "retaliation and punishment." They also persistently conducted an anti-DPRK psychological warfare including reckless scattering of leaflets on the west coast and the central and eastern areas along the Military Demarcation Line.

The Yonphyong Island shelling incident in which shells were fired into the inviolable territorial waters of the DPTK despite its repeated warnings and all what happened in the subsequent period bring to light the wild ambition of the conservative forces for invading the north.

However, the conservative authorities' moves to escalate the confrontation and start a war would not show them a way out but precipitate their self-destruction.
