Solidarity with DPRK Expressed by Int'l Body
Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- A resolution on solidarity with the DPRK was adopted at the 16th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions held in Athens from April 6 to 10.

The world progressives and working people unanimously hope that the north and the south of Korea will realize the independent reunification by means of federation, the most fair and realistic proposal, in the idea of "By our nation itself" and advance toward peace and prosperity, the resolution said.

The Korean Peninsula has been put in the touch-and-go situation entirely due to the U.S., it pointed out, saying: The participants in the congress bitterly denounce the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and the south Korean conservative authorities' moves against the DPRK and reunification.

It strongly demanded that the U.S. stop at once the arms buildup, military interference and war exercises increasing the danger of war on the Korean Peninsula, replace the Korean Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty and withdraw its troops from south Korea immediately.

We strongly urge the south Korean authorities to abandon their sycophancy toward the U.S. and consciousness of confrontation with fellow countrymen, respect the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and opt for improving the inter-Korean relations, the resolution said.

It expressed full support for the DPRK in its efforts to remove the danger of war prevailing on the peninsula, defend peace and security and improve the inter-Korean relations.

We recognize the original Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as the most reliable mode of politics that helps avert a war and defend peace on the peninsula and achieve the independent reunification of the country and prosperity of the nation, it said.

The resolution expressed full support and solidarity with the workers and other people of the DPRK in their efforts to build a thriving socialist nation and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
