Ruling Party Criticized in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Kukmin Ilbo on April 29 carried an editorial criticizing the "Grand National Party" driven into a crisis by its defeat in the election.

The defeat of the GNP in the April 27 by-election is a due estimation of the ruling party's incompetence and irresponsibility revealed to the people, the editorial said.

The GNP was defeated in No. 2 Pundang District, Songnam City of Kyonggi Province, where opposition candidates had never won since parliamentary constituency was set up there, and in Kangwon Province, an area controlled by the conservatives. This well shows the present crisis of the GNP, it said.

The representative and other leading officials of the GNP clarified their will to resign with the blame for the election returns, but such action cannot quell the raged people's mindset, the editorial said.

Untold are the crimes of the ruling party that has brought only sufferings to the people, it noted, adding that the GNP has no future any longer as it lost popularity.

The Lee Myung Bak "government", the GNP and Chongwadae should lend an ear to the voices of the people, it warned.
