Workers Meeting for Reunification Held in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- A workers meeting for reunification was held at the Rungrado Recreation Ground Sunday on the occasion of the international holiday of the workers the world over. It was to mark the 121st May Day for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula according to the agreement between workers organizations of the north and the south.

Present there were officials of the C.C., the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and working people.

A Korean Peninsula flag was hoisted amid the playing of song "We Are One".

A report by Hong Kwang Hyo, vice-chairman of the Reunification Committee of the C.C., the Federation, was followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers underlined the need to wage a dynamic reunification movement by the concerted efforts of the workers in the north and the south while resolutely shattering the moves of the separatists at home and abroad.

They extended full support to the just struggle of the working people in the south to achieve independence against the U.S. and realize democratization of society and defend the right of the workers.

Then a joint resolution agreed between the north-south workers organizations was published on May Day.

It denounced the separatists for blocking the said meeting and viciously seeking the escalated confrontation with fellow countrymen.

It underscored the need to thoroughly implement the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

The workers in the north and the south should strongly reject all the anti-reunification acts and conduct positive activities to defend peace, it stressed.

It underlined the need to strengthen solidarity and alliance with political parties, organizations and officials supporting the north-south joint declarations.
