Botanical Garden in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The Central Botanical Garden in Pyongyang, the DPRK, represents the flora of the country.

Growing in the botanical garden are several hundred species of plants sent to President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il as gifts by foreign state leaders, prominent political, public and academic figures, and overseas Koreans.

The botanical garden includes the Kimilsungia Hothouse, Kimjongilia Hothouse, International Friendship Greenhouse, Plant Museum, scenic wooded district, gift plant district, herb garden, arboretum and botanical institute.

It exchanges scientific and technological information concerning plants and seeds with other countries' botanical gardens.

It also breeds new species of plants and cultivates them on trial.

Many people visit the botanical garden to enjoy various kinds of flowers and trees and get knowledge of plants.

It was opened on April 30, Juche 48 (1959).
