Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- A Korean pencil drawing and fine art work exhibition was held in China from April 14 to 16 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Speeches were made at its opening ceremony.

Li Zhaoxing, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress and president of the China Association for International Friendly Contact, said that the exhibition would help the Chinese get better understanding of the long history and folk customs of Korea, its scenic landscape and unique style of painting and the achievements made by the Korean people in state building and their indomitable mental power.

To strengthen cultural exchange between China and the DPRK is of weighty significance in deepening the beautiful friendship between the two peoples, he noted.

The China Association for International Friendly Contact will make every possible effort to steadily develop the Sino-DPRK friendly relations which were provided and fostered by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries and had withstood the trials of history, he stressed.
