Crisis Remains Still Serious at Nuclear Power Plant in Japan
Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) --The crisis at the crippled nuclear power plant in Japan still remains a serious problem.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, quoting the results of the analysis of the level of cesium detected in the waters near the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, said that cesium of 83.3Bq per one liter was detected in the sea water 30 km away from the power plant.

Minute traces of plutonium were found in the soil in two places in the compound of the above-said power plant.

The government declared five cities, chons and sons near the power plant highly contaminated by radiation as evacuation areas.

The Wall Street Journal noted that the pressure inside the containment vessel of Reactor No. 1 at the time of the first explosion at the Japanese nuclear power plant rose two times that under the design but the situation deteriorated because of the Tokyo Electric Power Co's negligence.

According to the results of the opinion poll conducted by an opinion survey group of Japan among inhabitants, three persons out of four considered the crisis at the power plant as the biggest worry.

Meanwhile, radioactive materials were detected in a second-hand car imported from Japan in a Far-eastern area of Russia.

The damage by quake and the ensuing tsunami is increasing in Japan.

The Japan National Police Agency announced that the death toll caused by quake and the ensuing tsunami increased to 14,300 and the number of those unaccounted for to 11,999 as of 16:00 Sunday. Aftershocks are going on.

A magnitude of 6 quake rocked an eastern part of Japan on Saturday.

Its epicenter was 10 km deep under waters off Sanriku of Iwate Prefecture.

According to the results of a recent analysis, the speed of the tsunami caused by the massive quake reached 115 km per hour and the maximum height of tsunami registered 38.9 m, the highest in the history of observation in Japan.
