Radioactive Substance Continues to Leak from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant
Pyongyang, April 18 (KCNA) -- A high concentration of radioactive substance is ceaselessly leaking from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

Radioactive iodine and cesium more than 6,500 times and 1,400 times the legal level were detected in the waters off the coast close to the overflows around Nos. 1 and 2 Reactors of the plant recently.

On April 17 the Tokyo Electric Power Co. announced that about three months are required to reduce some amounts of radioactive substance that leaks from the power plant.

It was confirmed that the most of the ground of the northeastern coastal area of Japan went down 70-80 centimeters due to the recent killer quake.

The ground in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture went down 84 centimeters and even nearly one meter.

Meanwhile, earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred in Ibaraki Prefecture on Saturday. Its epicenter was about 70 km deep underground in the southern part of Tochigi Prefecture.

The National Police Agency of Japan said that the death toll caused by quake and the ensuing tsunami increased to 13,802 and the number of those unaccounted for to 14,129 as of 18:00 Sunday.
