China Rebukes US "Country Reports on Human Rights'' Practices for 2010
Beijing, April 10 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry at a press conference on April 9 vehemently rejected the "country reports on human rights practices for 2010" issued by the U.S. Department of State.

The Chinese government has attached importance to the guarantee of human rights and its economy has made sustainable progress, he said, adding that the construction of democratic legislations has been steadily pushed forward and various nationalities enjoy more freedom and rights in various aspects.

He made it clear that China is ready to conduct dialogue on the issue of human rights with other countries on the basis of equality and mutual respect, but is strongly opposed to the U.S. interference in its internal affairs under the pretext of the human rights issue.

The U.S. should reflect on the human rights problems in its country, stop styling itself a human rights "champion" and discontinue interfering in the internal affairs of other countries by such method as issuing "country reports on human rights practices", he stressed.
