Laser-based Seed Processing Technology Developed
Pyongyang, April 8 (KCNA) -- The Laser Research Institute of the DPRK has developed a laser-based seed processing technology.

Its scientists confirmed the index constants most suitable for seed processing by use of laser and invented a device based on the technology.

The device simultaneously makes dormancy breaking and sterilization of seeds.

It also makes it possible to sharply raise the seed-sprouting rate and decrease the consumption of seeds.

The crops of the laser-processed seeds are strong in resistance to drought and infections, economizing work force and insecticides and ensuring high and stable yield.

The new technology cuts the growth period of crops by 7 to 10 days, which is conducive to double farming.

It has proved effective in some co-op farms.
