National Meeting of Activists in Field of Fruit Farming Held
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- A national meeting of activists in the field of fruit farming took place in Pukchong County, South Hamgyong Province, on Friday.

Present there were Choe Yong Rim and Kim Ki Nam and officials of working people's organizations and members of the Cabinet, officials of local party, power and economic bodies, those in the field of fruit farming and exemplary scientists, technicians and working people.

Vice-Premier Kim Rak Hui made a report to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung clearly indicated the orientation and ways for developing the fruit farming in every period of the revolutionary development and at its every stage.

The President opened a bright prospect for increasing the fruit production at the Pukchong Enlarged Meeting of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, they said, adding it marked a turning point in developing the fruit farming of the country.

They went on to say:

General Secretary Kim Jong Il made public work "On Bringing About a New Turn in Developing the Fruit Farming" and other works, providing important guidelines for developing the nation's fruit farming as required by the new century.

In recent years Kim Jong Il saw to it that the Taedonggang Combined Fruit Farm was established as a model for the whole country, thus bringing about a signal change in developing the fruit farming in the era of Songun.

Referring to the successes made in the field of fruit farming in recent years, they stressed that the credit for them goes to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

They called on the officials and other working people in the field of fruit farming to effect a signal boost in the production in response to the WPK's plan for building an economic power and thus make a positive contribution to bringing about a drastic turn in improving the people's standard of living.
