Yanggak Islet in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- There is Yanggak Islet on the Taedong River in Pyongyang.

Yanggak means sheep horn. The islet covers 1.2 square kilometers and is 7 kilometers around.

There are sports, cultural and amusement facilities in both sides of the Yanggak Bridge across the middle of the islet.

Local and foreign films are screened on a regular basis and international film festivals take place at the Pyongyang International Cinema.

The cinema has large and small theatres with a total of more than 3,000 seats.

Yanggakdo Football Stadium has a seating capacity of more than 30,000 seats.

The stadium, with a grass field and running track of international standard, is surrounded by football training grounds and tennis courts.

Standing in the northern tip of the islet is the Yanggakdo International Hotel. The islet looks like a boat floating on the river and the hotel its mast.

The 47-storied hotel, with some 1,000 rooms, is one of the large hotels in the country.

The hotel is equipped with a health center, golf course and other entertainment facilities, as well as a rotating restaurant on the top.
