Koreans in Japan Meet
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Koreans in Japan was held at the Korean Hall in Tokyo on Mar. 28 to express thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il for sending relief fund to the Koreans in Japan who suffered from the massive quake and ensuing tsunami.

Present there were Ho Jong Man, chief vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and other leading officials and the chairmen of the headquarters of Chongryon in the quake-stricken regions and compatriots.

Ho's report was followed by speeches.

Ho said that all the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan were deeply moved to hear the news that Kim Jong Il sent out of his loving care relief fund amounting to 500 000 U.S. dollars to the Koreans in the quake-hit areas.

He said that Chongryon officials and compatriots would conduct activities to rescue Koreans in the afflicted areas as a movement of all organizations and compatriots, bearing deep in mind the noble intention of Kim Jong Il who sent the above-said fund.

He called upon all the Koreans to get united close and give play to their energies, wisdom and patriotic zeal to bring the activities of Chongryon organizations and living of the Koreans in the quake-stricken regions to normal as early as possible and effect a surge in the overall work of Chongryon.

A letter to Kim Jong Il was read out at the meeting.
