Developing Nations Work to Eradicate Poverty
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Developing countries are working hard for the elimination of poverty, setting it as a steady important task.

The president of South Africa said that to eliminate poverty has become a pressing issue in the African continent though it is rich in land resources. For its solution, it is important for the countries in the continent to develop agriculture and ensure the food security and achieve economic growth, he added.

At present the continental countries sell raw materials at low price and, instead, import finished goods at high price, the Tanzanian president pointed out, saying: An important way for eradicating poverty in Africa is to develop the industry.

Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff set the eradication of poverty as the priority task of the government, urging its organs at different levels to strive to maintain the standard of stable economic development and attain the aim of eradicating poverty.

Developing countries are making successes in the drive to eliminate poverty through substantial measures.

The Malaysian government pushes ahead with this drive under the goal of reducing the nation's poverty rate to 2 percent until 2015 through implementation of the 2010-2015 socio-economic development plan.

In Indonesia the poverty rate was decreased to 13.3 percent last year from 16.6 percent of 2009 by the government's positive efforts.

Angola reduced its poverty rate into 38 percent in 2009 from 63 percent of 2002 while Venezuela decreased its destitution rate into 7.1 percent in the first half of last year from 21 percent of 1998.

Bolivia cut down the rate 10 percent into 30 last year. The country plans to reduce the rate 9 percent this year.
