Xigang Meeting
Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Seventy-four years has elapsed since President Kim Il Sung convened the Xigang meeting on March 29, Juche 26 (1937).

At the meeting, the President reiterated his strong will to achieve the country's liberation by force of arms.

In the latter half of the 1930s, the Japanese imperialists were focusing all means on obliterating the soul of the Korean nation, while strengthening the defenses of border areas along the Rivers Amnok and Tuman.

Such being the situation, nobody imagined that units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) would advance into the homeland.

Basing himself on a scientific analysis of the situation, the President put forth a policy of advancing large units of the KPRA into the homeland to let the local people believe that Korea would surely be liberated as long as the KPRA exists.

He ordered the units to march in three directions and indicated the missions and operation theatres of each unit.

The policy was aimed to inspire the local people with confidence in the country's liberation and rapidly expand the anti-Japanese armed struggle deep into the homeland.
