Professor at US University Terms "Northern Limit Line" Illegal
Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- So Jae Jong, a professor at a U.S. university, on March 23 dedicated an article to an internet paper in which he termed the "Northern Limit Line" claimed by the south Korean authorities illegal.

According to the article, a confidential document on the West Sea of Korea worked out by the CIA in January, 1974 said that the purpose of fixing the said line was to ban the sailing of south Korean boats towards the north beyond that line without special permissions in a bid to prevent accidents.

But the original purpose of the line has now disappeared and only such expressions as "preparations for prompt strikes" and "preemptive measures" are widely used, causing this line to serve as the root cause of military conflicts and seeds of fire that may throw the whole of the Korean Peninsula into a war disaster.

Last year a U.S. aircraft carrier entered the waters around the line under the pretext of the warship sinking case, leading the situation to brink of a new world war.

It was clearly written in the document of the CIA that the said line ran across the waters regarded as the territorial waters of the north. This means that already at that time there was a warning that this line might breed seeds of dispute, the article held.
