Halt to S. Korean Authorities' Repressive Actions Demanded
Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- The Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society in south Korea demanded the authorities immediately stop their reckless repressive actions violating the academic freedom. It made this in an article posted on its Internet website on March 23.

The police is suppressing the research activities of members of the students' economic and academic organization as "enemy-benefiting" ones, the article said. This is a serious threat to the academic freedom.

Querying how the academic activities can become ones "benefiting the enemy," it accused the present "government" of intensifying the repression by invoking the "National Security Law" since its appearance.

The UN once recommended that the NSL should be abolished, it noted.

If the authorities block the students' research activities by invoking the evil law in the old era, they will be censured by broad circles, it said, demanding the release of all the arrested members.
