KNA Formed by Kim Hyong Jik
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, formed the Korean National Association (KNA) on March 23, Juche 6 (1917).

With a view that the nation's independence should be achieved by the Korean people themselves, he determined to conduct activities for rallying and awakening the people.

He thought that for that purpose, an anti-Japanese underground organization was necessary along with hard-core members and the mass foundation.

He conducted energetic activities for laying the mass foundation in many areas of the country.

When the conditions were mature for founding the organization, he convened a preliminary meeting to discuss the name and inauguration of the organization.

After making full preparations, he formed the KNA in Hakdanggol, Pyongyang.

Addressing the inaugural meeting, he set it as the goal of the KNA to win the independence of the nation and build a genuine, civilized country with concerted efforts of the Korean people.

After the inauguration, the KNA was rapidly expanded throughout the country.
