Russia will establish the unified aerospace defence system this year, he said. He underlined the need to combine this system with the existing air and missile defense systems, missile early warning system and space surveillance system so as to hold unified control of them.

He said that it is a permanent task to reliably defend the country's boundary, emphasizing the need to reorganize the infrastructure for the defence of the Far Eastern region of Russia.

He called for beefing up the officers' group of the federal armed forces.
