Ponghwa Revolutionary Site
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Many people are visiting the Ponghwa Revolutionary Site in Kangdong County, Pyongyang, on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the Korean National Association (KNA).

Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement, stayed there from mid-March Juche 5 (1916) to November next year to make preparations for forming KNA and expanding it.

During the days he taught at Myongsin School, bringing up students as ardent patriots and conducting activities to develop the liberation movement.

He founded KNA, an underground organization, in Pyongyang to guide the liberation movement and expanded it, based on Ponghwa-ri.

President Kim Il Sung came to Ponghwa-ri in spring Juche 6 (1917) together with his mother Kang Pan Sok to stay with his father Kim Hyong Jik.

In the revolutionary site there are a statue of Kim Hyong Jik, Myongsin School, his house, shallow well and the place of secret meetings in Mt. Ponghwa.

There are also the Ponghwari Revolutionary Museum and a monument to the revolutionary exploits of Kim Hyong Jik.
