Koryo Medical Book Restored to Original State
Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- "Ouichalyobang" is a medical classic of Korea.

The book, printed in April 1226, contains important prescriptions given out by the King's physician in the period of Koryo.

The classic is the oldest printed medical book known in the country.

It had been used as a valuable reference book in medical treatment and education for a long time, but disappeared later.

Thanks to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of discovering and preserving national cultural heritages, the ancient book was restored to its original state some time ago for the first time in the country.

The restored book, illustrative of the development and features of Korea's traditional medicine, is very helpful not only to medical treatment but also to the study of the Korean history of medicine and culture.
