Okinawa Governor Denounces Former US Consul General's Remarks

Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Okinawa Governor Hirokazu Nakaima in a news conference on Mar. 7 expressed dismay at the remarks made by the former U.S. consul general in Japan's southwestern island prefecture describing people there opposed to the transfer of Futenma base within the Prefecture as "masters of manipulation and extortion". He termed these inappropriate remarks.

"The U.S. official's remarks make me question what the U.S. consular office in Okinawa exists for," he told reporters, expressing strong protest against the remarks.
