Kim Jong Il Inspects Industrial Establishments in Hamhung
Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to industrial establishments in Hamhung making a leap forward.

The first leg of his guidance was the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex.

He looked round the construction site of the gasification process to learn in detail about the progress made in the project.

There sprang up in the land of Hungnam another great structure, a great product of self-reliance, and it has become possible to greet the hour when the hurrah of victory will be shouted thanks to the devoted efforts of the workers of the complex, the Ryongsong Machine Complex, the Equipment Assembling Complex, the Tanchon Mining and Construction Complex and the Hamhung Industrial Construction Office and other builders and helpers.

He highly appreciated the feats performed by them and extended thanks to them.

It is another miracle to be specially recorded in the history of construction that the herculean and huge project has been wound up in the main in a matter of one and half years, he said, adding that this is a new Chollima speed, the speed of the DPRK which takes a thousand steps while others do just ten steps.

He said that the completion of the gasification process at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex would help consolidate the Juche-oriented production system of fertilizers based on locally available raw materials and bring about a decisive turn in solving the food shortage.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the complex to commission the gasification process ahead of schedule.

He expressed great expectation and conviction that the workers of Hungnam would bring about a fresh turn in the production of fertilizers and thus positively contribute to agricultural development of the country.

The next leg of his guidance was the Hungnam Smeltery.

He went round different production processes including the hard alloy shop to learn in detail about the technological updating and production there.

He noted with satisfaction that the perfection of a modern hard alloy tool production system having all processes ranging from raw material feeding to finishing process helped home-made CNC-based equipment on the world's level pay off more profusely.

He acquainted himself in detail with the use of cultural and welfare facilities and the supply service for the workers.

He had a photo session with labor innovators.

The last leg of his guidance was the Hamhung Woolen Mill.

Looking round the room devoted to the history of the mill, he said that the mill which has turned into a large-scale textile producer thanks to the wise leadership and meticulous care of President Kim Il Sung has played a great role in solving the issue of clothing in the past. He highly appreciated the successes made by the workers of the mill.

After being briefed on the mill before a huge map showing its panoramic view, he went round different places to acquaint himself in detail with technical equipment and production.

He expressed expectation and conviction that the workers of the mill would boost the production and supply of quality clothing materials to contribute to improving the standard of people's living and accomplishing the cause of building a thriving nation.

He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam and Hong Sok Hyong, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, Thae Jong Su, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Kwak Pom Gi, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK.
