Actions to Have Women's Rights Guaranteed Declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- More than 20 women's organizations of south Korea including the Women's Committee of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a meeting in Seoul on March 5 on the occasion of the International Women's Day.

Speakers at the meeting said the women were the first victim of the unpopular labor policy pursued by the present regime.

They deplored that the women in south Korea are subject to harsh discrimination, denied even elementary rights.

A resolution read out at the meeting expressed opposition to all sorts of discrimination, holding that an end can be put to the present grim reality only through struggle.

It demanded the authorities guarantee the right to work, increase support to education and nursing and lift the unreasonable discriminative treatment and so on.

The women will not cease their actions till they are guaranteed genuine rights, the resolution stressed.

Meanwhile, a petition campaign and information service demanding the guarantee of the women's rights took place around the venue of the meeting on the same day.
