DPRK Marks International Women's Day
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture here on Tuesday to mark the 101st International Women's Day.

Attending it were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Rak Hui, vice-premier of the Cabinet, and leading officials of working people's organizations, women officials and women labor innovators.

Present on invitation were overseas Korean women, women from embassies of different countries and missions of international bodies here and foreign guests.

Ro Song Sil, chairwoman of the C.C., the Democratic Women's Union of Korea, said in her report at the meeting that the unity and solidarity among the world progressive women have been strengthened in the struggle to oppose all sorts of domination and subordination and achieve national independence and social development for over a hundred years since the International Women's Day was instituted.

The reporter recalled that the women's movement in Korea has advanced along the road of victory and glory under the guidance of the peerlessly great persons.

In every period and stage of the revolution the Korean women fully displayed their indomitable stamina in the drive for prosperity of the country under the warm care of President Kim Il Sung, she said.

The women's movement in Korea is now ushering in its heyday under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, the reporter said, adding:

Every page of the records on history of his revolutionary activities is run through with the undying feats he performed by developing the Korean women's movement into a Juche-based movement faithful to the WPK's cause of the Songun revolution.

The reporter called upon the Korean women to fulfill their mission and duty in defending socialism and achieving the prosperity of the country.
