Application of Tuition-waiver Program to Korean Schools in Japan Called for
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- Professors of Japanese Universities including Hitotsubashi University visited the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on March 4 and handed it a written request addressed to the Prime Minister, the minister and the chief Cabinet secretary of Japan in demand of the prompt application of the tuition-waiver program to the Korean schools.

The request said that extreme discrimination against the Korean schools only is unpardonable.

It accused the Japanese government of suspending the procedures for applying the program to the Korean schools, while vociferating about the Yonphyong Island shelling incident.

It expressed concern over the fact that a series of measures taken by the local self-government bodies including Tokyo Metropolis and Osaka Prefecture are inflicting double damage upon the patrons who send their children to the Korean schools.

It demanded that the program be immediately applied to them.

Meanwhile, members of the "For Achieving Peace through Dialogue! the Kobe Network for Japan-DPRK Relations," Japanese citizens and compatriots held a rally in Kobe on Feb. 27 at which they adopted resolutions addressed to the foreign minister and the minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
