Kim Jong Il Inspects Vegetable Science Institute and Floriculture Institute
Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the modern Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and Pyongyang Floriculture Institute.

The first leg of his guidance was the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute.

The institute having a total floor space of 500,000 square meters is located on the outskirts of Pyongyang. It is a modern and comprehensive vegetable science center which conducts researches and produces vegetables simultaneously as it has many greenhouses with facilities for the study of the latest science and production and a large area of research fields.

The watering, application of fertilizers, temperature and humidity control and all other processes at the institute are computerized.

Researchers of the institute cultivated at least vegetables of more than 50 species of over 20 plants such as cucumber No. 19 and tomato No. 15 growing in hothouses.
